Jeolla summers push relative humidity above 85% for weeks. Miners still move the same volumetric CFM, but mass flow of dry air drops — and condensation on cold intake ducts becomes a corrosion risk.

What we observe on site

  • Window intakes without louvers pull mist during storms; filter media cakes in days instead of weeks.
  • Shared-wall rooms show condensation on the intake grille before the hashboard junction rises — a warning sign operators miss if they only watch pool hash.

Practical responses

  1. Louvers with drip edge — Cheap sheet-metal addition; specify on retrofit plans.
  2. Filter schedule compression — Move from 30-day to 14-day changes June–August unless your dust test says otherwise.
  3. Desiccant wheel — Only on ducted intakes with measured moisture above 18 g/kg; capital cost justified above six full-size units.

What we do not recommend

Running miners with intake covers off “for more air” during humidity spikes — that invites direct mist ingestion. Positive pressure from a filtered fan unit beats an open window.

Data point

On our bench, a 110 TH/s class unit at 28°C ambient and 90% RH showed junction rise of 6°C versus identical clock at 45% RH — same CFM reading on the fan curve. Humidity matters even when fans spin at the same RPM.
