Airflow Corridor Specifications
Reference aisle widths, clearance rules, and tracer thresholds we apply when reviewing mining rooms for hardware at 0.05 TH/s and above.
Use this page as a checklist before booking a survey — or after receiving our report, to compare your build against the thresholds we enforce on site.
Minimum aisle widths (clear, unobstructed)
Single aisle, intake front / exhaust rear
90 cm minimum between rack faces. 100 cm preferred if operators walk the aisle during filter changes while units run.
Back-to-back racks, shared hot aisle
120 cm hot aisle width before duct capture. If hot aisle opens to room air without duct, treat entire room as mixed — requires tracer test.
Side clearance to wall
20 cm minimum from exhaust face to wall. 30 cm if wall is uninsulated plaster shared with living space — radiant heat feedback raises effective recirculation.
Intake lane rules
- Intake grille area ≥ 1.5× sum of miner intake face areas in that lane.
- No exhaust opening within 1.5 m horizontal of intake grille unless baffle height ≥ 60 cm between them.
- Window intakes require louvers and insect screen outside filter media — screen alone is not filter.
Exhaust capture
- Duct connection preferred when more than two full-size units share a room under 40 m².
- Roof passive vents count as exhaust only if tracer shows positive outward flow at operating duty — many fail in summer stack inversion.
Tracer thresholds we document
| Reading | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| Exhaust stream bends < 15° toward intake | Acceptable at hashboard height |
| 15°–30° bend toward intake | Yellow zone — baffle or duct extension recommended |
| > 30° bend or visible ingestion at intake | Red zone — relocate rack or redesign exhaust before production |
Filter service intervals (starting points)
| Environment | Interval |
|---|---|
| Clean suburban garage | 30 days |
| Agricultural dust (grain, livestock nearby) | 14 days |
| Coastal salt aerosol | 21 days with corrosion check on grilles |
Adjust after your dust test — we ship a small sample bag on placement reviews.
Acoustic reference
At residential property lines we document SPL at full fan unless client requests a night profile. Many Korean municipal guidelines reference 50 dB(A) at boundary for nighttime — we do not certify legal compliance but we mark readings on the sketch.
Ready for a measured plan?
These numbers are defaults. Your room may need tighter lanes or duct capture after tracer work.
